Madeline Kapp MacDonald is a collaborative violinist and consummate freelancer, most at home when supporting singers and leading an ensemble of peers. Born in New York to a family of professional musicians, she began playing at age 4 and earned her degree in violin performance from the University of Toronto (B.Mus 2010). She also attended the University of Kansas (2002-2005) and was a member of the Topeka Symphony Orchestra and the Lawrence Chamber Orchestra.

In Toronto Madeline often performed with choirs and community theatre companies and worked extensively as an orchestral contractor. She was the founding concertmaster and manager of the Church of the Redeemer orchestra-in-residence and a founding member and personnel manager of the Sneak Peek Orchestra.

After briefly living in PEI, where she subbed in the pit for Anne of Green Gables at The Charlottetown Festival (2010), Madeline was based in Portland, Maine. There she was a professional member of the Snow Pond Symphony and the Colby College Symphony Orchestra, played baroque violin with the St. Mary Schola, and performed for a number of musical theatre productions.

Since permanently relocating to PEI in 2017 Madeline has played alongside several local choirs, in the pit for Little Women: The Musical, and as a sub for Anne & Gilbert, The Musical. She is currently Principal Second Violin of the PEI Symphony Orchestra and Concertmaster of the Luminos Chamber Orchestra.
