Ellen (Dempsey) Davis is a recently retired music teacher who has enjoyed collaborating with young learners in NS, NL, and PEI to encourage their musical expression and sense of belonging within their school and community. She has been inspired by previous teachers and family, including past and present members of the PEI Symphony in which she played French horn for 7 years from 1976-1983. She received the PEI Human Rights Award in 2024, for her contribution of messages of inclusion and welcome through music by school choirs, over an 8 year period at the PEI Human Rights Commission’s annual celebrations of Human Rights Day. Ellen takes great pride in her family: her husband, two sons and their partners, and a delightful, young grandson.
