PEI Symphony Orchestra 2023-24 Season Subscriptions Now Available

Partnership agreement with the Confederation Centre of the Arts extended

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – June 29, 2023 – The PEI Symphony Orchestra (PEISO) is pleased to announce that 2023-24 season subscriptions are now available for purchase.  Single ticket sales will begin in late summer.

Entering its 56th year, this season marks a new and spectacular chapter in the orchestra’s history, as the PEISO welcomes four dynamic Guest Conductors to the podium: Jaelem Bhate, Kira Omelchenko, Juliane Gallant and Daniel Black.  Each is a finalist for the Music Director position and will complete a final audition by leading one of the upcoming PEISO concerts this coming season. Each Guest Conductor’s profile is available on the orchestra’s website at www.PEISymphony.com .

As part of the audition process, PEISO season subscribers have an exclusive and unprecedented opportunity to contribute to the selection of the next Music Director. After each concert, patrons will receive an email survey to share their feedback on the performance and the guest conductor.

“If there is ever a time to become a PEISO season subscriber, this is it,” said Wraychel Gilmore, PEISO Board President. “The PEISO values the experience of our audience members, and we want to hear from our loyal and valued subscribers during the Music Director search process.”

The PEISO is also thrilled to announce the renewal of its partnership agreement with Confederation Centre of the Arts for another two years, which includes four full-orchestra concerts per season in the Sobey Family Theatre.

“The Centre greatly values our partnership with the PEI Symphony Orchestra, and we are excited to be a part of this monumental season,” says Centre CEO Steve Bellamy. “This agreement is made possible through the Lou MacEachern Community Partnership Program, which allows a diverse cross-section of local organizations whose goals and objectives are aligned with those of the Centre to have better access to our facilities and resources.”

Long-time Centre supporter Lou MacEachern adds, “The PEISO is a tremendous asset to the Island’s cultural landscape, and I am thrilled to see them continue to benefit from the program.”

“We have a long-standing relationship with Confederation Centre of the Arts, and this partnership extension reinforces our joint commitment to deliver outstanding orchestral experiences for both musicians and audiences,” continues Gilmore. “To have this stunning national facility host our provincial Orchestra just makes sense.”

PEISO concerts take place on the following Sundays at 2:30 pm in the Sobey Family Theatre at Confederation Centre of the Arts:

  • October 15, 2023, featuring Jaelem Bhate
  • November 19, 2023, featuring Kira Omelchenko
  • February 25, 2024, featuring Juliane Gallant
  • April 7, 2024, featuring Daniel Black

To kick-off the season, take advantage of the early-bird subscription offer for all four concerts: choose any seat (including balcony) for $150. This offer is available until August 31st, after which series subscriptions will be available on a tiered basis ranging from $150 to $216.

As a thank you to our loyal patrons, subscribers from last year’s season will have priority access until July 22nd, after which un-renewed subscription seats will be released to the public. To keep PEISO concerts accessible to students and families, subscriptions and single tickets for children, youth, and students are half-price.

The Box Office is open on Mondays to Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and can be reached at 1-902-566-1267 / 1-800-565-0278.
