The 2016-2017 concert season is turning out to be one of our best ever. The first half of the season is now over, but there is more to come in 2017!  Rounding out the final concerts of the season are two great performances, both to take place in the sanctuary of Charlottetown’s Zion Presbyterian Church on a Sunday afternoon beginning at 2:30 PM. Tickets for both concerts can be purchased in advance of the concerts through the Confederation Centre box office or at the door the day of the performance.

On March 5th guest conductor Karem Simon will lead the PEISO in a performance of Beethoven’s ever popular, Symphony No. 7. After intermission, the local award-winning women’s choral group SIRENS will take to the stage to delight the audience.

On April 23rd Maestro Mark Shapiro returns to conduct the PEISO in the final concert of the season with a performance of Canadian composer Andrew Staniland’s Voyager, Mozart’s Symphony No. 35, and Jan Sibelius’s violin concerto featuring guest artist, Marc Djokic.

What can you expect in the 2017 when we will be celebrating not only the 150th anniversary of the founding of Canada as a nation but also the 50thanniversary of the founding of the PEI Symphony Orchestra?

On May 1st the National Arts Centre Orchestra comes to the Confederation Centre’s Homburg Theatre to perform. (This is a non-subscription concert add-on, where proceeds will benefit the PEISO.) The program includes Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 (the New World) and Korngold’s violin concerto performed by virtuoso violinist, James Ehnes.
